FAQs

What is the difference between analogue wireless camera systems and digital wireless (DW) camera systems?

Analogue systems use the same technology/frequencies (2.4Ghz) as Bluetooth/wireless networks, therefore analogue monitors can pick up interference from Bluetooth phones/headsets etc. Digital camera systems are paired and only 'see' the digital signals, therefore there is no interference (guaranteed) and range is also improved (200m+). Trailer Vision™ are the first/only company to supply vehicle based DW camera/reversing camera systems.

Why are Trailer Vision™ camera/reversing camera systems sometimes more expensive than ones on ebay etc?

Trailer Vision™ only supply the best quality digital wireless camera systems that have been fully tested in extreme/working environments. Trailer Vision™ specify only the best quality components, including high-resolution, wide-angle, CCD lenses and IP65 waterproof cases. All Trailer Vision™ systems are supplied with everything that you will need to use them with any type of vehicle and/or trailer/caravan. All of our digital wireless camera systems are unique and not available anywhere else (except from our stockists). Trailer Vision™ has a proven track record and will continue to support its customers with technical backup and product warranty/spares. Trailer Vision™  systems/reversing camera systems offer excellent value for money, from a listed company, which is also VAT registered. Trailer Vision™ take the guess work out of choosing a camera/reversing camera system: Our Focus - Your Peace of Mind.

Can anyone install the camera systems?

Yes! A screwdriver is normally the only tool that you will need, although a drill may also be required to install the camera on to metalwork/roofs/walls. All Trailer Vision™ cameras require the electrical power connection (12-24V) of positive (red) and negative (black) wires; the use/availability of a multi-meter is recommended. (We can now offer a National Fitting Service, at your location, for those customers who don't have the time to install the camera/reversing camera systems themselves, please contact us for further details).

Where is the best place to install the camera?

For a reversing camera, or as a rear view mirror, ideally the camera should be mounted as high as possible at the rear of the vehicle, looking backwards & down. To view a horse(s) in a horsebox or trailer, ideally mount the camera at the rear of the horse(s) and as high as possible, as this gives the best 'field of view'.

What if I don't want to drill my vehicle/horsebox/trailer roof, or wall?

No problem, the camera mount can be screwed/bolted to a piece of perspex/wood and then this can be 'bonded' (try No plate adhesive tape) to the vehicle/trailer/horsebox roof, or wall. Additionally, the Digi-Lite system features a small/discrete camera that is integrated into the vehicles number plate surround/holder.

What if I decide that I need additional cameras, or if I didn't order a part of the system that I would now like?

No problem, you can order any part of the system at any time, but remember if you buy a full package, all together, you receive a package discount.

Are the systems water-proof?

Yes, all cameras/reversing cameras are water-proof although it is recommended that you avoid direct spraying by pressure washers etc.

Can the systems be used as reversing cameras?

Yes, Trailer Vision™ cameras can also be used as reversing cameras, as they incorporate a wide angle lens and monitor images are reversed to give 'rear-view mirror effect'. Additionally, the DW monitor(s) automatically switches to the reversing camera image, when reverse gear is engaged (single camera system).

For lighter vehicles and hitching, we also stock a small/discrete digital wireless camera (external/separate transmitter) system (Digi-Hitch).

How many cameras can be used with each system?

The Digi-View, Digi-Lite, Digi-Max2™ and Digi-Star systems can be used with up to 4 cameras at any one time (monitors can be paired to any number of cameras, but only 4 at any one time).

Could I use the camera system for security?

Yes, although mains adapters will be required and wireless camera range is limited to approximately 200m 'line of sight' (range can be significantly increased with the use of additional, directional, panel aerials).

I've heard that analogue wireless camera systems suffer from interference?

Bluetooth devices etc cause interference with analogue systems, therefore if you can't/don't want to switch off your Bluetooth device, then please use a Digital Wireless (DW) system. (DW systems are interference free).

What if I don't want to pay on-line?

We now accept PayPal payments (please ignore the references to Google Checkout). However, you are also welcome to pay by cheque or by credit card - please contact us (01536 370059) to arrange. Trade customers should also contact us for further details and to receive the trade prices.

Are Trailer Vision™ systems wireless?

Yes. However, the cameras need power, therefore a wire needs to be connected between the digital wireless camera and a power source (12/24V), usually the interior/reversing/side-light is the easiest source.

Can Trailer Vision™ systems be used in a horsebox?

Yes! Trailer Vision™ camera systems are designed to be used in horseboxes, trailers, or any type of vehicle (12/24V). As the image/signal is transmitted wirelessly, there are no wires/cables between the camera(s) and monitor, which makes installation very quick and easy.

Can Trailer Vision™ camera systems be used with a caravan?

Yes! Trailer Vision™ digital wireless (DW) camera systems are designed to be used with caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents, or any type of vehicle (12/24V). As the image/signal is transmitted wirelessly, there are no wires/cables between the camera(s) and monitor, which makes installation very quick and easy. (DW systems are interference free).
